BarcodeIQ does not require a login, does not collect personal data, and does not store your scans on any server. Camera scanning is processed entirely on-device. Gallery images are processed on-device first; if on-device decoding fails, a temporary copy is sent to BarcodeIQ’s server solely to detect the barcode and is immediately discarded.
BarcodeIQ is a barcode and QR code scanning app for iOS and Android. It allows you to scan barcodes using your camera, import images from your photo library, analyse barcode quality, decode GS1 data, and generate barcodes and QR codes.
You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use BarcodeIQ. The app works entirely without authentication.
BarcodeIQ requests access to your camera solely to scan barcodes and QR codes. The camera is only active when you are using the scanning screen. It is never accessed in the background or when the app is not in use.
BarcodeIQ requests access to your photo library only when you explicitly choose to import an image for scanning. Access is granted per-import only. Images are processed on-device using the camera scanning engine. If the on-device engine cannot detect a barcode, the selected image or crop region is temporarily sent to BarcodeIQ’s server for a secondary attempt using a higher-accuracy decoder. The image is not stored and is discarded immediately after the decoding result is returned.
When you are on the main scanning screen, BarcodeIQ reads the contents of your clipboard to check whether you have copied a barcode value or URL that can be scanned. This check happens automatically each time you open the scanning screen. No clipboard content is transmitted to any server or stored beyond the current session. iOS displays a system notification when any app reads the clipboard.
BarcodeIQ can optionally send you a daily reminder to scan. This permission is requested only if you enable reminders in the History tab. You can turn off reminders at any time from within the app or from your device’s Settings. Notification permission is never requested automatically on launch.
Your scan history and app preferences are stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage. This data is:
